D से दिल्ली

I leave for the States in less than a week — to pursue my second degree, a master’s in computer science at the University of California San Diego. The first one was a bachelor’s in biochemical engineering and biotechnology, from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Sounds like quite a dramatic shift, but it’s not quite as it seems, and this blog uncovers how that happened, and so much more — about how I, a boy who had just turned 18, moved to the national capital and made it my home. I decided to start off with the pretext of me leaving to pursue another degree, and I do that for a specific reason. I can’t help but compare the stark difference between my approach and mentality right now, to what it was four years ago when I was leaving for Delhi. The last time around, I had spent the major part of two years preparing for an entrance exam, and I would be lying if I said I hadn’t enjoyed that journey. But nevertheless it was a taxing process that had left its toll on me. In t

One of my closest friend, Gouri, will be graduating from NIFT Delhi this year. As part of her graduating project, she was interning at Louis Philippe for four months — she has designed a set of garments — shirts and jeans. The theme for her project was to showcase the entrepreneurs of tomorrow — and the attributes that they need to possess — and she felt fit to do the photoshoot with IIT students: Adhhayan, Abhinav, Yash, Abhishek, and me. It was the first time any of us had modeled, and it was a great experience! I know Gouri well enough to comment on the effort she puts into her work. She's passionate, dedicated, and more importantly creative — and this is clearly visible in the garments she's made — right from the ideation of the design, to the final making, she has put her heart and soul into it! I became a fan of her creativity, and work ethic long back. Finally, to showcase her work, she had to prepare a document — an ode to people go out into the world as themselves,

The Onion Knights

I still remember the first innings on campus facing inhibitions I never thought staying alone, home-sickness, and engineering-drawing tears were the only defense with which I fought  I reached out, and family answered my call Wasn't there something the system could have done to avoid my fall? First came the minor, and then another, and finally the Major with 14 weeks in between a young boy, yet unpeeled was my treatment a bit too mean? '"it's only the beginning", I said 14 weeks, and I was dealt with a learning hand the first layer was out, and here I stand then came the second year and with it, my next attempt the committee room was where I first met them my tribe for the next three years a daily affair — we went into one room, and come out of another shared frustration over course
